PARENT RETREAT INFO

Adult Volunteers Needed

Parent volunteers are needed to help make this retreat a success.

1. REGISTRATION: help check in teens and distribute name tags on Friday, November 5th. Four parent volunteers are needed from 6:30pm – 8:00pm at Hiram House Camp (campers arrive at 7:30pm).

2. NIGHT PATROL: patrol Hiram House Camp to make sure teens are in cabins. Parents are needed from 11:00pm – 1:00am both Friday and Saturday night. We need two parents each night.

3. CONFESSION HELP: Saturday Night we are in need of some extra hands to help direct the teens to confession as well as the other prayer activities planned throughout the night. Assistance is needed from 7:30pm – 9:00pm. We ask volunteers to arrive around 7:00pm to get directions and greet the priests. This is a very powerful night and we need help to make sure it runs smoothly.

4. LETTER SORTING: In addition to the support letters that parents write, teens also write notes to each other on the retreat. We are in need of help sorting letters on Sunday around 11:30am at Hiram House Camp.

If you are able to help us out, please contact Judy Paffilas directly at basillifeteen@basilthegreat.org.
Thank you for all you do to support Life Teen!

 Support Letters

We ask that parents write letters of support for their teens who are on retreat. In addition to letters from the parents we encourage that siblings, family and friends write letters as well. These letters are meant to express love and support for your teen. You can share past memories, an appreciation for who your teen has grown up to be or a letter encouraging them to continue to grow in their faith. This is often times one of the most impactful moments of the retreat for many teens and they will be so grateful for your letter.

We ask that…
– Letters be delivered to the parish office no later than Sunday October 31st
– Letters be clearly marked ‘LIFE TEEN RETREAT’ and clearly print your teen’s first and last name.
– Letters be no larger than a standard office envelope. Letters must fit into a brown paper lunch bag.
*If someone is out of town and would like to send a SUPPORT LETTER, they can email their letter to Judy Paffilas at basillifeteen@basilthegreat.org, and she will print it out*

Transportation and Times

– Teens must arrive at Hiram House Camp promptly by 7:30pm on Friday, November 5th. If a teen is planning to drive themselves to retreat, they will need to have their parent email Judy Paffilas, basillifeteen@basilthegreat.org, to give express consent. Upon arrival, their car keys will be collected by Erin and returned at the end of retreat to ensure everyone’s safety throughout the weekend.

– The retreat will conclude with 2:00pm mass at Hiram House Camp on Sunday, November 7th. We invite family and friends to attend this mass with the teens. Teens will be dismissed after Mass.
